Carrying around unwanted fat isn’t only about what size clothes you wear – it also affects how you see yourself and how confident you feel in your own body. No matter how often you gym or how careful you are with your food, sometimes fat is just stubborn – but invasive surgery or liposuction isn’t for everyone. We have a different solution.

Fat freezing, or cryogenic lipolysis, is exactly like what it sounds – fat cells are frozen for a period of time with the aim of reducing pockets of subcutaneous fat, and it’s a non-surgical treatment. This painless, non-invasive fat loss solution has become very popular thanks to its reduced risk and recovery time compared to traditional liposuction.

The technology that led to fat freezing in fact originated after research was done into frostbite, and it was noted that fat cells would freeze before the skin cells froze, leaving them unharmed. The fat cells then later died, and were removed from the body by apoptosis – part of the body’s natural recycling. Scientists then set out to look at how this could be used to treat excess subcutaneous fat, leading to the modern fat freezing treatments we see today.

During your cryolipolysis treatment, one of our trained specialists will place the fat freezing applicator on a specific part of your body such as your stomach, although it can be used on your thighs, chin, upper arms, waist and hips, back and lower bottom. The suction cools the skin and freezes the fat cells, encouraging the body to get rid of them as part of its normal processes. You might feel a little chilly during the treatment, but this wears off quickly.

The treatment lasts around 45 minutes, and bar feeling a bit cold and numb in the area treated, our clients can go about their daily lives with an absolute minimum of disruption. On occasion, they have reported slight bruising, but this is from the suction, rather than the fat freezing, and generally subsides in less than a week.

Fat freezing is an effective and long-lasting treatment for fat loss (not weight loss, it’s worth mentioning), and we recommend a minimum course of four sessions and a healthy diet for best results. The treatment takes around 10-12 weeks to have noticeable slimming and toning effects, so remember to commit to a series of appointments to see the best results. Good to know if you’re planning for a big day where you have to look your best!

At MySkin we recommend fat freezing for people wanting to smooth and contour their hard-to-tone areas, as the treatment is not designed to help drop the pounds. If you’re looking to treat larger areas, take a look at our Ultrasonic Cavitation treatment, which is designed precisely for this. Please note that this treatment is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women. For everyone else, however, it’s a great way to help you fit into those new jeans.

If you’re looking for effective, long-lasting treatment to improve problem areas and boost your body confidence, then a course of fat freezing is a painless way to get solid results after just a few sessions. Give us a call to find out more and to book your free consultation!
